Minimalist, Farm-Themed First Birthday Party
I can’t believe I am writing this but our first baby is ONE year old- so cliche but we definitely blinked and the year really flew by. Every day is increasingly more fun as his little personality continues to unfold. He keeps us on our toes but slows us down and reminds us to appreciate the little things every single day. We are busier than ever but our hearts couldn’t be more full.
The Plans
When I really started to think about making plans for Beau’s first birthday party, I knew I wanted something simple and clean with personal touches (shocker, right?). The space was important and so were the details. Excessively themed parties aren’t really my jam, so I knew whatever I envisioned was something I would have to create from scratch.
The Invites
Like every project, Beau’s Birthday party started out with a Pinterest board. When I started dreaming up the brand, I knew that Kelsey from Pretty Paper and Co was going to be the girl to bring my minimal, little boy birthday party dreams come to life. The design she created was simple and modern with the perfect amount of little farm boy, charm. We added Beau’s monthly milestone pictures to the backside to add an extra personal touch. She nailed my vision and her invites became the foundation for Beau’s birthday party.
The Cookies
I had been following The Missing Pastry on instagram for quite some time. Her cookies are stunning with so much detail! I had booked her for Beau’s birthday months in advance even though I had no direction of how I intended these cookies to turn out. When we started planning Beau’s cookies, I shared Beau’s invites and my pinterest board, and left the rest up to her. I knew the minimal cookies was going to be a little out of her norm, but the end result nearly brought me tears of joy. They were the icing on the cake, no doubt. Sometimes when you see these beautifully designed cookies, you wonder if they actually taste as good as they look. Well, cookies from The Missing Pastry are not only stunningly beautiful, they are also delicious! I am so grateful for pictures of them, because I wanted to keep these cookies for forever.
The Extras
The rest of the party consisted of pedal tractor races, on brand coloring pages, DIY party hats, milestone pictures, and the most amazing handmade bunting. A friend of ours made the incredible bunting using vintage, ticking fabric from her collection from France. She gets me in all the best ways possible. We can’t wait to hang it on display in Beau’s room.
The Photographer
Per usual, we knew there was no other photographer we wanted to document this special day than Caitlin from Caitlin Claire Studio. We are so grateful that we were able to be present as parents with our little man while she documented this memorable day. Her compassion for her customers continues to inspire us through so many chapters of our life. We are so grateful for her talented, timeless photography.
Like most mom’s will admit, skipping a nap is never a good idea (amateur FTM mistake). By the time the cake came out, Beau was long overdue for a nap and less than interested in eating cake. Super grandma came to the rescue and scooped him up so he could head home for a nap. Thankfully our most favorite photographer, Caitlin from Caitlin Claire Studio was kind enough to wait out his nap to capture the rest of Beau’s big day.
